This book consists of two sequences, Osorezan and Izanami. Osorezan is a sacred mountain in Aomori prefecture where the spirits of the dead are believed to gather. Izanami is the name of a central deity of Japanese mythology. Suzuki photographed the landscape of Osorezan and the festival of Hanano-iwaya Shrine, where Izanami is enshrined. These two sequences trace an invisible presence and the people’s will to trust it. Suzuki won the 25th Kimura Ihei Award for this book.
